Following the Kuhmo competition, the Quartet had the opportunity to participate in the European Chamber Music Academy, ECMA; first as a guest ensemble from the Kuhmo Festival and, since 2006, as an official ECMA Ensemble Fixe.
From the very beginning, the aim of the Kamus Quartet has been to offer concerts with a versatile range of repertoire. Kamus has given concerts in the largest festivals and cities in Finland, and has performed in major European cities such as London, Paris, Vienna, Berlin and Brussels. The quartet has collaborated with many Finnish contemporary composers, whose works Kamus has premiered and recorded for the Finnish National Broadcasting Company (YLE).
In 2010 Kamus Quartet recorded the four quartets of Finnish contemporary composer Seppo Pohjola on Alba Records which received excellent reviews and was nominated for best Classical record prize in Finland, a rare event for a debut disc consisting only of contemporary repertoire. Their second recording is based on Jean Sibelius' masterpiece the "Voces Intimae" string quartet, and was released in summer 2015, the year of the Sibelius 150th anniversary.
Kamus has been a regular guest at the most important festival in Finland, the Helsinki Festival as well as Our Festival, directed by Pekka Kuusisto. The Quartet members are also artistic directors of Teema@Helsinki, a new concert series in Helsinki, which aims to explore unusual venues around the city.
